   "The gas chambers at Auschwitz were designed by German firms and
   experts, who submitted their plans on a competitive basis. A
   processing unit had to be designed with the capacity to dispose of
   2,000 bodies every twelve hours. A tall chimney had to be designed
   to provide the necessary draught for five furnaces, each with three
   doors, as supplied under contract by the German firm of Topf and
   Company of Erfurt. According to the specification plans, use could
   be made in the furnaces of body fat as fuel." (Gilbert, 69)
